Tidewater Cup

A Southeastern Virginia Race Series

All race participants must have a valid USA Cycling racing license. All USA Cycling rules will govern all races. To be eligible for the overall prize list, riders do NOT have to compete in every race.

The series is scored on a points system, with points awarded for each race based on the number of starting competitors in the smallest Senior category field (for Men's and Women's competition) and Junior category field (for Boy's and Girl's). For example, if there are twenty Cat 1/2s, thirty-five Cat 3s and twelve Cat 4s, the maximum number of points awarded to the winner of any race will be 12. Each subsequent rider will receive one less point.

Points awarded for time trials will be based on the largest gender-specific Senior and Junior fields.

No points will be awarded for DNS or DNF.

Cup points can be earned in one race per event. If a rider participates in two or more races, points from the highest placing will be used when calculating the total. All others will be omitted.

All race places will be determined and ruled final by the licensed USA Cycling officials presiding over the respective race. Results are final 15 minutes after being posted following the conclusion of that race. No protests will be considered after results are final.

Series standings will be calculated and posted to this site once the final results have been received.

Awards & Prizes

The coveted Tidewater Cup will be awarded to the Man, Woman, Junior Male and Junior Female with the highest total points at the end of the series.

In the case of a tie in total points, the tie will be broken in favor of the rider who has the highest placing in the last race or the race nearest the last race in the series in which at least one of the tied riders placed. In the event the tied riders finished with the same result, the tie will be broken in favor of the rider in the larger field.
